Construction of the escalator F - ECO Drive

The construction of our mall type escalators F-ECO Drive were tested from “TÜV Süd” and according to EN DIN 115-1:2018-01 (Sicherheit von Fahrtreppen und Fahrsteigen - Teil 1: Konstruktion und Einbau) and the current “Maschinenrichtlinie 2006/42/EG”. In addition, the calculated values of the load and the constructionwere reviewed again manually by means of software by the TÜV Süd structural engineers for handling technology.

Step width

In the 80s and 90s, the majority of escalators were built with a 600mm step width, nowadays it is a rare customer wish. In addition to the production costs, the energy costs were also a reason for this decision. Nowadays the 1000mm wide aluminum steps weigh about 11kg less than 600mm steel steps with 24kg. Although 800mm wide steps are still the standard, more and more operators get to know the benefits of a 1000mm step width:

  • Higher passenger capacity
  • Generous architectural design possibilities
  • Comfortable for passengers with big shopping bags
  • Parents can stay next to their children· Step as level of communication at eye level
  • Less traffic
